Well, general consensus is pretty overwhelming so won't be taking any of those three products. Thanks everyone for the advice.2 points

GAP insurance is just that and the insurer makes a profit coz the likelihood of a claim being made is amazingly remote ..... like all insurances Once the fear syndrome is in you there will always be, to you, a valid reason to insure The insurers win hands down overall. But it's up to you which insurance company you decide to line it's pockets with your hard earnt ......... or none at all Malc my house is maybe 450 years old and i pay insurance every year ............. the likelihood of a catastrophic ( or any ) claim is clearly negligible and over the centuries the insurers may have made a fortune insuring my house ........... would I cease paying insurance, well, no .......... The fear is in me that it would be just my luck to run out after 450 years2 points

No matter how hard i use the brakes or not, the squeaking does not seem to go away for more than a few minutes. Surely it cannot be normal for any car. I have had many cars with steel on steel (M3, C65, etc) never had squeaking from them so I do not agree that high performance brakes/cars squeak because it has not been an issue with any other car. Suppose no harm in taking a suggestion from above and paying a visit to local dealer to see what they say. Will let you know how i get on for those interested.2 points

To take your last point (and easiest) first, yes, of course - just go to any reputable bodyshop of your choice and ask for an estimate. But note, proper accident repair specialist, not Kwik-fit, Halfords etc. As for the insurance, I absolutely HATE car insurance but we have to have it so we just have to get on with it. I don't agree with this particular aspect of it but I do acknowledge that a 'standard' policy doesn't cover the excess and that's why they always encourage people to take out 'legal cover', which is specifically used to chase out of pocket expenses and excess. If you don't have this extra 'legal cover' then your chances of getting your money back are almost nil, but if you do have it then use it. As Steve and I said earlier, that's what insurance is for.2 points

Not only for IS300h owners, but also for all Lexus hybrid drivers, I am writing only now about this android app , really not so new, but it's because at last I had the chance to try it on my GS 300h ( previously not in list of compatible hybrid cars), and it is really complete in telling hybrid cars drivers with HSD eCVT a lot of info monitoring the system to obtain the best mpg and general use. The android app has been created by amateur developers and it is totally FREE, and there is also a associated app to create a complete report of how you made your trip very useful to perfectionate (if you like ) your hypermiling technique, but it is useful also for curious people that like to know more about hybrids; you only need to use the app a good OBD BT interface that can be used with other famous apps, like Torque. My compliments again to the developers they deserve for the big work they did with Hybrid Assistant and Hybrid Reporter. Being a free software I think it's not against forum policy to give the link, as unluckily some bad people are spamming on market with app with similar apps trying to have advantage of work of others. http://hybridassistant.blogspot.com/p/about.html1 point

Having recently had a big moan to Lexus UK, they weren't exactly bending over backwards to help, far from it. Money talks, if a valuable client isn't happy, most companies will go above and beyond usual levels to retain their business (£). IMO Joe bloggs will have a very hard job to get this same success. That said, I did get a £50 voucher to spent on lexus accessories 😉.1 point

They squeak, Lexus have stated in a brochure they will, at certain times under certain conditions, squeak, its not a major issue for me, not bad enough for Lexus to fly a technician over from Europe to drive around with me all day, take my car off me(would they crush it...…..) then give me a new car...……….(do those brakes not squeak???) and then drop £15,000 into my bank account.1 point

Is it just the earlier cars that have this issue? My 2011 ISF still shows even tyre wear and I do a decent mileage so it's not sitting in it's hanger....1 point

My IS250 brakes squeaks as well... good to know it is performance car feature, now I can claim my car is performance car as well :DDDD1 point

Totally agree, my house is a mere 250 years old, survived a few wars and neglect in the past, and never have I claimed, and will I still insure, YES, just in case. Also never needed claimed on my car insurance ever, so someone has made a nice profit out of me over the years.1 point

Meh - Mine had chords showing on the inside too when i changed tyres. It's very well cared for car I might add. But the inner scrubbing issue can easily wear down to chords without an owners knowledge, even if still showing half worn everywhere else. I had to check every week or two with wheels on full lock to see how they were getting on and changed as soon as i saw an issue. Bit unfortunate as @Big Rat happened to be looking on as I did! I've since fitted USRS bushes and this has totally fixed the issue.1 point

a BIG NO for all three from me too! GAP wise, try these folk: https://www.ala.co.uk/ I went with them and i'm sure you can get a discount code from the PistonHeads website. A good detailer will be able to protect your car with much, much better products. The SMART covers sounds good but I'm sure they will wriggle out of many (if not all) of issues you may raise during the period of cover. Again, your local detailer should be able to help if you do need this sorting.1 point

All the systems showing the fault use the ABS sensors so the likelyhood is that one of the ABS wheel sensors is intermittently faulty. A decent professional scanner should pick up any saved fault codes on the ABS system at the very least though. Very strange. If the fault is intermittent it goes away so by switching the engine off and then on again the lights go out, but come on when the fault resurfaces.1 point

Couldn't agree more re the exclusions, I've been bitten by them. Except for the main warranty I wouldn't waste my money.1 point

I just mentally ticked off all the stuff I can do (and did) when servicing my is220d for the last 10 years. **** I've saved a right packet over the years in the 220d. I think I will be doing my is300h service. £600 buys a lot of oil and parts - not just inspections. I'm not fussed about stamping books when I don't intended to sell the car for a long time. I have tech docs., techstream and the know how to do most of the service / renew parts. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5b6a18f1cda1b/Lexus%20-%20Full%2040%2C%2060%2C%2080%20Service%20Summary%200518.pdf Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk1 point

I had what appeared to be minor damage to my IS300h when it was hit on rear offside wheel. There was very little panel damage BUT the entire rear suspension was all knocked slightly out of kilter. It was nearly £6000 damage. Basically the suspension did it's job and absorbed all the kinetic energy of the collision. That is why car needs to be properly checked at a reputable bodyshop.1 point

If Irish Lexus dealers charge the same as in the UK then it will be double that for servicing... Lexus fixed service charges are on the Lexus UK website https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/ - scroll down to the bottom and enter the model etc to get prices.1 point

As some of you may know I purchased some cream leather seats for my ISF, I now have the full passenger seat, drivers seat (just the leather-can be swapped onto your current seat for circa £150) and full rear seats, in black from my 2008 car. The seats are in good condition for their age with no rips etc, other than the slight bolster wear on the drivers side leather. These would be very useful if someone has damage/rips to their seats. A good trimmer can swap the leather on a front seat for circa £150, I know this as I've had it done. A new seat from Lexus is circa £2,600 and the leather itself is circa £1,000. Anyone with any questions or interest please drop me a pm.1 point

That always baffles and infuriates me - how people can fail MOT on tyres! I understand something hidden e.g. I failed MOT for little rip in anti-roll bar drop link rubber, it is not that anti-roll bar has failed, or the link has failed, but there the rubber grommet on the link had about 5mm long crack... when changing them out I realised the rubber was fragile and you can rip it with hands, potentially they even damaged the rubber when inspecting. Anyway the links needed replacing (still original for over 180k miles), but it was kind of unfortunate and stupid to fail MOT for 5mm hole - "rubber deteriorated and does not prevent dirt from getting", could have given advisory and saved themselves time re-testing the car (... and ruining otherwise impeccable mot history). The point - that would be difficult to see and unfortunate, but valid MOT failure, failing MOT for tyres is just dumb - how can they not see and not bother to check them before MOT, especially on something like IS-F where good tyres are paramount for staying on the road!1 point

Hi. I have just booked mine in for 60,000 mile service and it's £625. Booked in for next month. Debating to do it myself. Since I serviced my last lexus for 10 years. My only concern would be the hybrid battery cover but still its a lot of money. I might see what it would cost to do it myself and go from there. Like to know what you get quoted. and when you come to sell in 3 years time a few dinks will be perfectly acceptable and make no difference to the resale value methinks ...... bear in mind these are essentially insurance products at which the insurer, on balance, always makes a profit ! one buys these products once the fear syndrome has been installed ............ I'm surprised they haven't invented coil spring break insurance for when you hit a pothole .. ah ... maybe they'd pay out too much on that one ! Malc1 point

Not being cynical (well maybe), but I would imagine the fact you're Company buys around 35 cars a year from Lexus helped matters........ Can't see them giving £15K compensation to an individual customer personally.... Kudos to you though, clearly perseverance paid off.1 point

Hi Dan, The overall look and drive of the car is great - the plasi-wood is a mod I knew I could update / convert, so it wasn't a game changer. The car I bought was a great buy, low miles, full LSH and pretty much all the toys. A very well looked after and maintained motor. So I wasn't going to let it out me off - also, I didn't want to spend more on the RX400h yet.1 point

Sorry to the op, misunderstood, found this article though UNFORTUNATELY I'M UNABLE TO ATTACH A COPY OF THE PROCEDURE, BUT THE TASK IS QUITE SIMPLE. FIRST REMOVE THE UPPER CONSOLE BOX COVER. THIS IS THE TOP PIECE WITH THE VENTS TOWARD THE BACK.IT HAS 6 CLIPS. JUST USE A SCREWDRIVER THAT IS TAPED ON THE END, AND SEPARATE IT FROM THE MAIN CONSOLE BOX. NEXT, YOU NEED TO REMOVE 2 SCREWS AND 4 BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE MAIN CONSOLE BOX TO THE FLOOR.THE 2 SCREWS ARE LOCATE AT THE FRONT BEHIND A CAP ON THE SIDE. POP THE CAPS OFF AND REMOVE THE SCREWS. NEXT, ABOUT 5 INCHES BACK OF THE AREA WHERE THE SCREWS WERE, THERE IS A PLASTIC COVER PLATE. ITS THE ABOUT THE SAME WIDTH AS THE BOX. POP THE PLATE. THERE YOU WILL SEE 2 BOLTS. THE OTHER 2 BOLTS ARE LOCATED IN THE REAR WHERE THE BACK VENT IS LOCATED ON TOP. THATS IT. GOOD LUCK.1 point
