Just a quick heads up for those of you with diesels - Car Mechanics magazine this month (February 2018 issue) has an interesting article about DPFs - how they work, what goes wrong and how they can be cleaned etc. It also mentions EGRs etc (and Catalytic Converters for petrol engines) but the main focus is on DPFs

This is the third GS I've seen, and in all honesty it's hard to see how I could have found a better one. It really is just about in showroom condition. 68k full Lexus history. Maybe not everyone's choice but I particularly wanted cream leather. Hopefully this will be our means of getting to Austria in the spring.

I now use Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner & Sealant. I find it is brilliant on my ivory leather. Apply it with an old nail type brush and scrub with reasonable force and the results are astounding every time! It ain't £3 mind you but it is very very good. I won't get anything else now. Usually around the £20-26 mark but you do see deals from time to time. My last kit was £18.50 from Ebay. I used to use Gliptone .... but now I just wipe some of that on an old magic tree freshener and pop one under each front seat ... makes the car smell great for weeks! There are some good demos up on Youtube for applying Dodo.

I found the limiter (i think) on mine in June last year... the speedo showed just under 180mph at around 6000rpm in 7th. I can’t say I looked more accurately at that....

Oooh controversy! I like 'em although I've not driven one. Hate the alloys though. Love the Tan leather though. Stupid pop out door handles. Every one I've seen in the dealers has had one or more stuck popped out. Do like that white one though, just needs some black alloys!

Really liked it when I first saw at Goodwood, in the red with tan interior, and liked the fact it looked more like a concept, but I seem to like it less with time. Of course a drive could change that pretty quickly I suspect!!. It’s funny because I actually now prefer the RCF which is a reversal from when I first saw th LC.

New bearings come today, Paul from whifbitz got them quickly sent out, top man 👍should have the pistons, rings and rods assembled on the weekend.

That's true enough, although the GS boot is still large. As I generally look like a vagrant I don't tend to use much luggage space when going away, thus giving ample space for my wife's bags!

I must admit i feel that way with some of their other models but the LC hit the spot with me. Mind you throw a Toyota FT1 alongside the LC and I'd have a hard time deciding.

Dear Collective, have just bought a '99 IS200 and the manual says the headlamp washer works on a dedicated dash mounted switch. Trouble is, mine isn't fitted with a headlamp washer switch. They're fitted as you can coax them forward enough to see them but I have no idea how they're supposed to fire - any brilliance out there help out a newbie IS owner please?

Sport plus pack in Naples yellow thank you very much. Some photos of the front look abit fussy but in the flesh it's stunning. I've almost convinced myself the above combo will replace my isf.

I agree Phil, I've just bought a 2006 GS300 and I'm very pleased with the economy, quietness and quality feel. Despite being slightly smaller than my old LS400 I don't feel short changed but the sloping design does mean that I caught my head a few times and I'm only 5ft 10''.........the V6 also feels creamy smooth and despite loosing 2 cyclinders and a whole litre, it's quiet and powerful. I've only had her for a day so it's too early to comment on the full experience but so far so good.....Mark.

Ours is on 70k miles and had it since 59k, not topped it up once. The engine doesn't use any oil at all unlike my other car!

Try also putting your contacts in cell phone memory, not only in SIM card.

Had a black Golf VR6 back in the day so know what you mean, but it did look absolutely stunning when all shiny & clean.

That’s conversation would go exactly the same way in our house. 😂 Even my children know their place in the pecking order, which apparently is below the F according to them!! 😉

I would be careful with protection cream on sealed leather - it might do just opposite, make a sticky layer for dirt to stick onto and increase the wear and tear + make the seats look visually dirty, sticky and shiny.

12m? Surely.....? 12K? And....what else WOULD you buy? after selling my Ser 4 car, I couldn't see anything that was nowt but a step back in quality. (El Grand van was good though...) Even my BMW owning , car obssessed neighbour thinks Lexus better. Keep the ad info going! People like to look.

From my perspective, I’m just trying to help people out by pointing out ads to cars, as I know these cars are more popular now and not everyone has time to look. I can see it being repetitive though, so will hold off from now. I’ve also just reached the 12m ownership milestone, which normally means I buy something else (has happened for the last 5 years).

Afraid so, really can’t see me parting with it at all. First car I have ever considered keeping for the long term.. I usually change after 3yrs, but now coming up to 4yrs already. Seriously considered a mint 2011 Gen 2 997 C2S in black with the aero pack & only 13k on the clock from Porsche last year. But when it came down to it I couldn’t part with the F - I would have lost money that I would have made that decision a few years back!!

No it was in the RX which I don't have a dashcam fitted to. But it was just stupid - lots of dumb driving around when snow starts to fall - don't really know why - probably to do with frustration because the main roads are busier than usual because nobody wants to go on side roads

Back in the day I used to get Kent fast road cams fitted to my hot hatches. Got an extra 35bhp from my ford escort RS2000. I wonder if these are available for the F?

Agreed, special and very under rated ...

Please don’t get confused regarding the coolant leak issue, don’t believe U.K. models suffer from this, nor the sticky interior trim or any other minor niggles/issues raised across the pond. Mine has been running fine with 640hp thanks to the addition of an RR-Racing supercharger kit, but not had coolant leaks etc. Lexus have checked it for me, nothing. Pound for pound the most reliable car I’ve owned. Sorry to see you go, but hope the car finds a loving new home, it deserves it.

0W-20 from any brand Although I doubt you need any top ups in 10k/1 year. These engines don't exactly drink oil

However, here is an extract from an Autocar review "Lower, wider and longer, the styling is far more adventurous – borderline funky, in fact - and comes with uncommon presence and an almost fanatical devotion to detail. hi there's a switch you press it's located to the right of the steering wheel ( next to the rear fog light switch if my memory serves me right).You also need your headlights to be on for them to work,hope this helps 😊
